Marie I like the way you stand up and count yourself in! Smile

The interviews I present are of contemporary works by contemporary artists, so in the main they would portray contemporary themes, and or personal exploration, often the work can be seen to be existential (Love that word!)

I guess as some form of measure, I would look at works and say... is this work the sort of thing I would find in a Contemporary Gallery in a major city.... Where the director and or their staff would be able to know if the works hold some merit for a collector, investor, curator, museum etc. So does that fit for you?

Steve, my habit of not following links or reading long posts has gone against me here. Your site is fantastic.

'Contempory works by a contempory artist'?

Yes and Yes - I am alive and all my works are within modern history, namely today,
with a specific exception of a 1770 Captain Cook tribute for the 150th year anniversary.

Current series I am painting covers one hundred years, 1895 - 1985. The series is existential without resorting to catching your eye by shocking you hard. It will express fundamental aspects of the human condition over 100 years right here on our home ground. Each one promted by a story my Grandmother or my Mother told me or my own experience.

The completed thrity pieces (Yes - subliminal thirty pieces of silver reference for those who want to get it) as by looking and exploring the lifestyle changes over that period the viewers make their own judgements as to value wrought.

My paintings are more in keeping with current Archibald and Wynne (wash my mouth out!) prize works. Not depending on massive size or ugliness to catch your interest, they rest their laurels on my art.

'is this work the sort of thing I would find in a Contemporary Gallery in a major city'?

I do not know. My days of travelling the globe and loving every minute in the galleries and museums of the world are over as I found paradise five years ago at Agnes Water 1770. I do know that one day my answer to your question will be 'Yes'.

Smile

And now if one couldn't work that out from my web site, I had best redo it!

Thanks for the exchange.
