Hi.
I'm new to this site so I'm saying hello everywhere it seems, and reading a lot, not to mention all the great work i'm seeing.
I'm a Melbourne portrait artist, painting , drawing and Body Pressing. I also do Trompe L'oeil.
I have just started painting again after a fews years away from it. It's hard. Things that used to be easy and fluent are hard and stilted. I know I need more practice, but in the past I used to just DO, it never felt like practise.

I would appreciate any, and I mean any, feedback about my work

Cheers
Shane

Shane, welcome. Its probably good to say hello all over the place, in here. cos sometimes we are lazy and just browse briefly, but I was glad I browsed today, as I so enjoyed your web site. I've always had a fascination with trompe l'oeil. Loved your portraits by the way. Thanks for sharing.

Very Happy Hi Brad...
I am also a Portrait Artist, or I am Trying to be...

I love painting, drawing, portaits..
I work in All mediums and even styles...

Lately, I have been creating with my my Intuos Tablet and Teaching Myself Corel Painter... Not as easy as I first trhought...

I love EXPERIMENTING with my Old Lonley forgoten Drawings I have all over my home in folios etc...

Found some OLD Art I had since 1990,s Scanned it, and gave it some Corel Painter Magic...

I have SAMPLES of Portraits on this website...

http://www.ArtWanted.com/Felineart

The site is a TAD CONSERVATIVE.. All my best nudes were politely deleted...

But, I respect their policy, so I upload only nice Drawings and Illustrations etc...

I love COMBINING the Traditional and Digital way to create Art, Portraiits etc...

Hugs from Artwoman and my horde of felines... Very Happy

It is hard being a portrait artist. I love it, and believe that I do some good ones, but getting them hung in a juried exhibition is so difficult. I just submitted 3 to the Doug Moran exhibition, but did not get an email or telephone call yesterday saying that one of mine was selected (that was the day it mentioned that successful artists would be notified). So I guess they come back from Sydney, un-hung once again.

My web site is www.gaylehebbardart.com and my blogspot (with pictures of some of my work is http://gaylehebbardart.blogspot.com/ for those who care to look.

nice work there Gayle, the portrait of Graham is brilliant- love "man with walking stick" and "kitchen corner" reminds me of Margaret Olleys work ! We have been SO LUCKY to have Margaret exhibit here locally, just recently in Lismore and i couldnt get enough- went 5 or 6 times! They were all interiors and the LIGHT > WOW.

Thanks Maria61. It is always nice to get a compliment about your work (I am so insecure you know - need the compliments to boost my ego).

Welcome also Belle. Did you get yours hung in the Doug Moran. You are been having some success lately to perhaps you will be luckier than me.

Luke i love this, my husband just walked in and thought it looked a bit evil, BUT i think she looks saultry. The colours you use are great, very interesting, apart from a normal portrait, i love them. Did you paint it from a sitting, photo or did she just evolve. A woman you admire maybe????? Keep it up. I have only painted one portrait of my mum, it looks like her but not real thrilled with the overall outcome. But i did it in acrylics. I should give it another go, as my graphite drawings are looking realistic, i would love to be able to develop something in paints. Sheral

I really like your portraits koppa. I don't do too many, but here's one I did as an exercise only (because it's from a CD photo reference), and yours remind me of this one, but it took me a lot more than a lunch to get it to this point.

And I've been working on this the last few nights

Hey I remember seeing the Cherry Venture as an adolescent on holidays with my family back in the 70s. Fascinating bit of history gone.
