OOPs - forgot to say - this is an OLD listing - so many things have changed since then - I completed the residency and 17 portraits hang in the Monbulk RSL. The pastels were completed, exhibited and sold. I am about to have a solo exhibition in Lilydale (NOT lilyfield LOL) which will be hung tomorrow night!!!! I am excited! And I have finished that Diploma and another. Hmmm - maybe I'd better get them to amend the listing!
Cheers everyone!

teacat please share the location of your exhibition so that we can have a look and support you. I Broke my ankle on sunday, and am sitting here wondering how, I will be able to amuse myself as unco as I am on my crutches, but I could thump around an exhibition to keep myself amused.

Hi Winnierose - you poor thing you Sad Hope you get better soon!
I am exhibiting at a local cafe in Lilydale - The Blue Turtle, 222 Main Street Lilydale - they make fantastic coffee and there will be pictures down both sides so you can just sit in the middle Laughing I am exhibiting 10 pictures - 5 new mandalas; one drawing; one techpen; one pastel; one illustration; one automotive art. These represent the techniques I am experienced in.
I'm not bothering with galleries or the like anymore - just too expensive and they take too much money (IMO). I like the cafe scene - have done quite a few now and just am so rewarded by the wonderful community aspect and the great rapport I develop with owners and patrons. As I am often to be found in the cafe drinking coffee, it also makes it easier to meet people and chat - I have got many commissions this way.
I would love to see an artist co-operative established out here in the gateway to the Yarra Valley - owned by (well...), run by and for all artists. It would be such a wonderful thing IMO. Just a dream atm but any artists out there interested give me a post and we'll look into it.
Cheers!

Thanks marg, I'll try to get up to lilydale to see it. I used to work in main st many moons ago, but its all changed now. I hope I am not going to bore everyone now, that I have enforced time on my hands, but, I watched a great video today of Daniel Green, who is a portraitist. The video I watched was a demo of a model by the name of erika. but it is very informative. Step by step from the first mark on the paper, how he guages where to put things right up to his values etc. I think he does primarily oil, but this video is a pastel demonstration. I think I read on a thread somewhere, that someone had asked any good portrait artists to look up, he would be a definite, that I would recomend. I have picked up good hints just for the drawing.

Hi jannek, welcome !

ArtForum likes images to be 520 pixels maximum width. If your images are larger you will need to make copies and resize them. Save them with a different name so the originals don't get over-written, e.g. "masterpiece small.jpg"

Then you get on the net and sign up to a free image-hosting site, for example Photobucket http://www.photobucket.com/ or ImageShack http://www.imageshack.us/

They give you clear instructions on how to proceed.

Once your images are uploaded to the hosting site each one is automatically given a set of links in various formats. You want the [IMG] one. Highlight that, copy it, and paste it into your ArtForum post. Do that for each image you want to show.

You won't see the images in your post, but they will be there when you Submit. If you click on the Preview button and wait a sec you can see them loaded before you hit Submit.

That's it. Seems complicated at first, but you'll get the hang of it. Any questions, fire away.

Hi Janneck - pleased to meet you.
Velvet, do you know why I can't access some images? All i get is a little box with a cross in them.

Not sure why belle, could be a fault on the site where they're hosted, or the images have been removed from the host site, or it could be some setting in your browser software. One thing you can do though, is right-click on the little red box and choose View Image from the menu that appears. That will take you off Artforum and directly to the image. Then click the Back button at the top to return to Artforum.

I'm not sure if that is enjoyment or desperation!... but its certainly an animated subject that is painted with expressive realism... and it works very well... the menu in the background is a nice touch!
