Hi everyone and especially you Brad for inviting me to join.
I am a disability pensioner from Geraldton WA and have been painting since 1990. My beloved wife bought me a set of oil paints and told me to learn to paint as it is good therapy. I havent stopped. I have won awards for my paintings and for the past 4 years have been a volunteer teacher with our local Senior Citizens teaching them to paint.
I mainly paint in Oils and Acrylics with oils being my favourite medium but am also able to turn out a not too bad watercolour or pastel.
I have been involved in the local art scene here in Geraldton as well as Dongara for the past 10 years or so having started an Art Group in Dongara and also being the President of the Geraldton Art Society.
One of my crowning moments was winning the Dalwalinu Art Festival in 1995 and also having some of my works exhibited at the Geraldton Regional Art Gallery.

I'll shut up for now or else you will all know everything there is to know about me and you'll all think I'm a big head or something.
Just like to say hi and look forward to meeting fellow artists and having my 2 bob's worth on the forum.
Cheers
Jim

Hi Jim, welcome to the forum Smile

I'm on disability too so I am very interested in hearing any tips you may have for working in the industry as a person with disabilities. I agree that its good therapy, I know it has meant the world of difference to me, I'm sure you would agree - there is nothing like escaping into a painting Smile

I'm off to check out your website now,
Welcome Aboard Smile

Thanks Brad for inviting me to join your forum.

I leave my contact details on many sites and am curious to find out where you found it. Regardless I'm glad you did. I am surprised you are 'running' this forum by yourself - I seen other forums where several guys run it.

On my website http://limerik.tripod.com I have 4 pages that may interest others members. They are:
The critics choice of the world's 10 best pictures (European)
My choice of the world's 10 best pictures (European)
The critics choice of Australia's 10 best pictures and
My choice of Australia's 10 best pictures.
They should provoke a response - maybe in Chit Chat.

I've yet to put my own works on a website. I've only done a few - I get distracted by thinking up and sketching other paintings I'd like to do.

Hi Nicole,

If you recieved an email it should have a link to the post that was replied to. ...if you mean a personal message you want to reply to, see the very top of the site, next to the ART-search logo, click on the 'messages' link.

Hope that helps, Welcome to Art Forum!

Hi Brad,
I'd forgotten about Aftforum until I recd. your invite. What a great idea.
I love exploring ideas and breaking rules and now I have the time since I'm now 'retired', and the forum will be good for that, I hope. Hope to set up a website sometime. Tell me, in order to photgraph water colours, is it necessary to remove them from the frame to reduce/avoid reflections?
Eddie.
PS How do I include emoticons in this text? Is it possible?
