Sign in clear, capital letters, clearly visible on the front, spit, piece of hair, fingerprint - your relatives will love you for it. Just get bloody famous!
Happy New Year!

I sign my paintings simply "Quinn" ( when I remember)
Several times I have had paintings returned to have the signature added when I have forgotten.
So people obviously expect an artwork to be signed. And signed where they can see it. I have a big notice in the area where I frame my artwork that says SIGN YOUR WORK!
Its a real pain to take a pastel out of its frame, sign it, and put it back again.

I always sign botttom right corner in a colour that suits the area and doesn't stand out too much. I also sign about the same size each time and same way.

I DO NOT date the front of the work as I don't like to give it an "old" feel. I feel someone should look at my painting and not judge it by the date it was created e.g. someone wouldn't be interested in a 2005 painting compared to a 2009 painting. By having said that I still upload my images on my website in year time frames more so from archival interest.

I also sign and date the back right hand corner with the other information.

Signing to me is a sense of completion.
