I'm in WA and the only thing I buy from the stores is Crescent Illustrator's Board (believe me, if I could get it online, or direct from the supplier, I would - I've tried!).

I order everything else from the online store version of http://www.artmaterials.com.au/ (which have always been pretty good to me, though they don't stock everything I need), and then anything else from individual suppliers.

I try and buy bulk, the mark-up Jackson's places on everything is simply extortionate. The Balcatta store has good service though, I've found, and they will try and order things in for you. Smile

Jacksons used to be the only one I go to Art Riot in Garden City when they have a sale on..they stock Atelier, Matisse, and Jo-Sonja..I like Atelier Interactive best I have a couple of tubes of Jo-Sonja which is too thin for my liking...I recently discovered the Art Shed in Myaree is open Sunday 10am/4pm I thought their acrylics and water colours expensive but I was able to buy Rice Paper in big sheets Pastel Mat soft sandpaper feel and some great Chinese brushes all under $10...they also have some great brushes quite cheap...I was surprised that they stocked the stuff I though I couldn't get here in WA...Art Riot have a sale on this weekend with 50% of lovely Chinese water colour brushes the nice mops that the ferrule is wrapped with wire...I had a big one years ago and it was just great...so I'm in there Saturday...I have never seen some of the paint names that some talk off...pees me off a bit not having the choice

BUY ONLINE through heaps of different art suppliers , just PLEASE do your research and know what you want , what you need it for , and what you should reasonably pay

Seconded. I get all my art materials online; except for illustrator's board which I buy from jacksons so I can inspect the quality before I get it.

Jackson's rarely has enough for me to buy one or two pieces of cold-pressed illo's board, so I buy in bulk instead.

if your still looking for a good art supplier try Artscene in Sydney They are very big, both a retailer and a wholesaler with good pricing. I have been using them for many years. They ship all over the country and also have a rep who lives in WA. The end of November is a good time to buy stuff as they have an annual sale then. www.artscene.com.au.

I everyone I just wanted to give a shout out to the Art Shed in Balcatta (north) and Myaree (south) who sell a variety of products including Atelier, Matisse, Winsor & Newton, Art Spectrum, Jo Sonja, Chroma and their home brand Mont Marte. If you haven't tried them yet its worth having a look at, I felt like a kid in a candy store the first time I went there.
