Parkers in Sydney carries Liquitex, not sure if their prices are good:

oy vey, youd think we were the last planet in the universe, perth si great living wise but for most things its a load of arse..
jacksons have had the monopoly here fro years, but a few more places have popped up, the main hassle with them has been the ghastly service.. |

Hi, I'm new to Freo and have found that Jacksons sell only a small range of acrylic paint supplies. Where is Riot?
I'll be interested in any replies re other suppliers too! |

I live in Qld and order most of my stuff with www.theartshop.com.au
They are in Melbourne and shipping is only $8 or so. You might have to wait maybe two weeks for delivery.
They seem to have almost everything also Liquitex. And prices are pretty resonable.
I've been always happy with my delivered goods.

We lived in Perth for a year, and I mostly bought stuff from www.jovian.com.au
They didn't have all the brands I wanted available on the website, but were able to get almost everything for me. Delivery only took a couple of days as they generally used express post. |

Try Murray Gill in Hay St Subiaco. Murray is an artist, and his is the only store in Perth to stock Old Holland and Blockx oils, so that put him up there as one of the best suppliers. I can't remember what Acrylics they stock, but a phone call will soon tell you. _________________ "Hey, your painting looks like what it looks like" Homer Simpson

i live in albany so we get next to nothing here - a sort of mish mash of jacksons
i always pop into murray gills in subi and find them really helpful - unlike jacksons - and lots of fun looking around at the rabbit warren
his wife runs the shop and she is really sweet |

Wa.. Jacksons have always treated me well
I have good rapport in the Perth and Subiaco stores, and the staff have always gone out of their way to help me. If people treat me well, I'm loyal... the massive discount I get doesn't hurt either. If I'm in a hurry, I ring ahead and my stuff is ready, if I can take my time, I'm welcome for an hours chat...
Oh well... |

You can also get your paint from HU Kendall which is on the corner of Newcastle Street and Fitzgerald Street. I have always found the staff to be very helpful and friendly.
I am not too sure on their prices etc, but I used to get my stretcher bars from them. |

| I'm really sorry to hear that so many people have had problems with Jacksons, as i work there. In the subiaco store we have a great new manager and while i definitley appreciate there have been issues with attitudes of staff, i personally try to be a friendly and helpful as i can. We have a really good range of acrylics by the way, and the store now features the artwork of all the staff! |

HU Kendall is the best !
get an ABN and get yourself a trade account , more % off than normal artists get
Jacksons is ok if you dont mind the staff that dont know what theyre on about , or their arrogant pr1ck of a boss phoning you at 7am to interrogate you about your apparently "competing" business . he even asked me what my bank balance was , pity I was sleepy enough to let him get to that point
"F$%# off" was my final word to Mr Jacksoff ,
I'd like his home number so I can call him when HE'S trying to fix breakfast for HIS children
any of you Eastern State Art suppliers want to open up some franchises over here ? it'd really help us WA artists out |

also :
more resons to avoid Jacksons :
I was told Damar varnish was for acrylics , NOT oils ( fremantle store ) ...
Winsor and Newton oils can't be mixed with Art spectrum oils cause they react violently ( booragoon store ) ...
In WA ? go to HU Kendalls or BUY ONLINE through heaps of different art suppliers , just PLEASE do your research and know what you want , what you need it for , and what you should reasonably pay
hell , its quicker to buy supplies online , then when you get them in the post it'll be a nice surprise and you'll be even more excited to start working on the next best piece of art . and by then the dishes will be out of the way |
