Just marvelous seeing the stages of this work. And yes that water is remarkable! Only suggestion is that you have the horizon light sky following the edges of the hills on the right side whereas IRL it may be straight.

Thanks for your comments mariegreen. I'm not quite sure what you mean though. Very Happy

Thanks Stefan and Marty. Yes there is still a bit of work to do to this one.
I'm happy with it but I think it could be better.
It's time to put the reference photo aside and try to make it more like a painting than a large print out of a photograph. Very Happy

I noticed this area too, Daniel. It's on the right, where the sky value lifts. The value change follows the shape of the hill, whereas the lighter sky should go straight across the sky. Your reference shows this.

Ah Ha! yes you're right. Well spotted mariegreen and Marty.
I usually paint the sky twice as the first time is a bit thin and I might even put some sort of cloud in there.
I have put the photo of the painting through photoshop to illustrate how I would like the finished painting to look . It's a bit rough but you get the idea.

Your painting is awe-inspiring. How long have you been painting?

Beautiful work Daniel. How are you enjoying having a new patch to paint?

It's really nice here.
It's very peaceful. going out onto the balcony in the morning to have coffee is great. It's nice to hear all of the birds...except the cockatoo's

I am hoping to go exploring the waterways again next Wednesday

I'm still not totally happy with the water. I think I've been looking at this painting for too long.
I need to put it aside for a while and then look at it with fresh eyes.
Any comments?

Thanks Ock but I just put it through photoshop again and thought that it looked better with some of the sky reflection taken out on the left.
I'm trying to simplify it and focus the viewers attention to the center.

Thanks Belle.
I'm trying to get about four or five paintings of the Hawkesbury done before I approach the local galleries here. With any luck they just might take them Very Happy ...with a little bit more luck I just might sell something. Rolling Eyes

Hi Daniel
I think the water is perfect and I would not touch it again! I actually find the centre focal point (although realistic) to be bleached of colour, I'd like to see a little more richness to it.
Cheers Jo.
