| Last year we had nearly 3 months in Hanoi. I spent 3 hours every morning at the University of Fine Arts studying Lacquer Painting. It was mainly expats and great fun. Got to meet a wide range of people and helped me make friends. |

| Hanoi sounds great. I had a few weeks in south Vietnam in 2004 and loved the lacquer paintings, particularly eggshell ones, like the inlay of mother of pearl less. Went and saw the manufactured versions in the factories of all sizes (same pictures) would love to do as you have done, belle. |

| It was all very informal. People came and went on a casual basis and it cost $US3 for 3 hours plus materials. Trouble was carrying it all home! It is possible to spend months on one piece. I wish I had bought some of the blank boards home because I can't find any of the materials here. I think I enjoyed it most because it was so friendly and un threatening. |

I did 6 months around the world with my hubby and son in 06...and am slowly working through the photos and sketches. Paris is my spiritual home!!!!!!!!! but the light in Egypt was incredible, as was the Loire valley. Visually, the most amazing thing I saw was the view over Russia from 10,000 ft up! it is incredible...no photos but seared on my brain for ever!
I hope to do a trip to Asia next year and USA in 2010. By far my most passionate goal is to stay in Paris for about 3 months and paint and draw and write (and eat and drink and look at art and play music...you get the picture)...I hope this happens in 2010! |

| Good luck with that Christine! i think my spiritual home is Florence (along with thousands of others.) We are planning a 5 month trip next Feb finances allowing. We intend to have 6 - 8 weeks in Sth America, then Spain/Portugal, Berlin, Italy, Turkey, Thailand for a rest on the beach and so we can drop into Hanoi again on the way home. It's going to be expensive though and this year is supposed to be frugal, however my first exhibition is in July and I am being blown away by the expense of it all. |

Hey I like this, it is like making art from recycled garbage or something - starting a useful thread from a spam posting is a great idea.
I don't need to go anywhere for inspiration since I already live at the ends of the earth where thousands of people spend millions of dollars every year to come to! |

| Belle catches gorms and is incorporating them into an interesting knit which will be popular with women of a certain age. |

I hope no gorms have had to die in the creation of garments for women of a certain age? At least tell me they have not been tested on innocent guiles.
I've lost my medication . |

Beware! Guiles are not as innocent as you think! Indeed, wrangling guiles is a highly specialised task and best not undertaken by the more aged and/or cynical.
Women are always at a certain age but defining it is problematic. |
