Sorry to butt in here, but women are always at a certain age . . . and it brings tears if you mention that age. It also brings suffering if you forget a birthday which increases that age.
Poor guys, we will never win! |

Yes! I once attended a little-publicised Rodeo, where an old rodeo clown was impaled by a particularly furious Guile after throwing his rider who had forgotten to tuck some gorms in his pockets for luck. Not for the feint-hearted.

Belle, I went to Florence in May (1998) and it was crowded then...I can only imagine what August must be like!! I want to go back there in March or October. chilly but far more user friendly. I did manage to see a LOT of art (Uffizi and numerous churches plus more contemporary spaces). Yes, I stayed in Padova - it was a magic place. All a long time ago -1985 but am looking forward to renewing the experience next year.
Hayley I am surprised the guile took such direct action since they are known for their deviousness (if that is a word) and cunning. I have to admit that putting it into a rodeo may have produced total panic. One has to be a fast talker to influence a guile. Gorms on the other hand are sweet and decorative and I don't know why they haven't taken on as domestic pets. |

On my honeymoon I was fortunate enough to go back to Ireland and spend a couple of nights in Rosslare, before spending two weeks exploring the rest of the country.
Rosslare is on the east coast where the ferry and supply ships come in from all over Europe.
When we first got there it was fine but at dusk a fog rolled in and the place took on a completely different character.
The visibility was about 100 meters and there were foghorns going off frequently.
It was a great experience to be wandering around this huge port with people going about their business & massive lights blearing magnifying the effects of the fog, .
And adding to the ambiance intermittent foghorns showing where the ships were in the darkness.
I don't get that sort of thing were I am so it was something I'll never forget.
I encourage anyone thinking of going to Ireland to do it. |

Ireland is beautiful. Green, damp, historic and friendly. It was my first stop in Europe on a backpacking trip in my early 20's.
I was seduced by a green eyed girl  , went hangliding on Achill Island with distant cousins and steered a small yacht across Dublin's Bay.
I also kissed the Blarney Stone, can you tell!!
The Greek Islands are soft, blue and white with hazy horizons...and Pamplona is vibrant and colourful during the Running of The Bulls. Sigh, where do the years go... |
