Hi! this is a painting I am working on - I am going to add a lot more colour to her body, I think, as well as some highlights and reflections around the face and eyes, more detail on the labia, etc. Any suggestions?
Cheers

your placement is a bit off. You need to move her vagina up and to the left. At the moment it is part of her inner thigh.

Have you had a look at Hazel Dooney's work?

And also Egon Schiele - the absolute master of this type of work.

I think this could benefit from more work on the hand. If you do this yourself at a mirror you will see the shape of the hand from the front is very different from what you have depicted, and that the hand is not limp, a certain amount of tension is required in the fingers to hold the labia apart. As it is now the hand is ill-defined and flat, in contrast to the rest of the body, which I think is quite successful in terms of shape, volume and weight.

Thanks very much guys, yes, it is in very early stages - i am terrified of hands, but can definitely see what you mean about it being too limp and ill defined. I will keep you updated as i work on it!

I absolutely LOVE Egon Schiele, he's my favourite!

I agree with both comments. The half cut off head worries me, you need to complete it to the top of the page.

Gustav Klimt did some great erotic drawings as well, you should have a look at his work.
A little less erotic than Schiele's work I think.

Also if you look at these two great artists work they are filled with passion. Passion evident in more than one way...a passion for drawing and art and a passion for the subjects sex and sexuality.

For me this was evident in the way the subjects were portrayed, sometimes almost in characterchure which worked in the opposite way so that it only emphasised feeling and reinforced the artists vision.

I hope that I'm wrong but I feel that your level of drawing skill might work against you if you want to be taken seriously when choosing this subject.
And maybe try some in simple black, white and grey tones to see if they look any stronger.

Hi Alex,
I think it's wonderful that you're venturing into erotic art!

I agree somewhat with most of the other comments & I also appreciate you saying that you will be adding more colour to her body.

However in my view, I feel that there's too much green in the background & it detracts from the main subject thereby reducing the impact of eroticism.

Anyway, all the best with your progression!

Regards,
Al
