An old Great Dane called "Asha". What a noble expression!
Pastel on Mi-tientes paper.

A friend who helps to rescue these dogs was telling me about the number of people who buy them as puppies and don't realise how big they're going to get and have to give them away.
You would think the word Great in the name would be a bit of a clue wouldn't you?

I can't believe that people still do this in this day and age. We have tv and the internet to inform us, I thought everyone would know how big a great dane is. Very sad.[/quote]

Beautiful work yet again Clive Very Happy How long on average do you spend on each portrait?

What a shame re people buying puppies still and underestimating that they will grow!

Thank you Chardonnay.
Kayty, it's hard to give you an average time, as each portrait varies in complexity. This one was quite straightforward and took about 1 and a half hours. Some can take up to six hours or so. I have six drawing boards on easels and leaning against walls and at any one time there are probably 4 paintings on the go. I usually leave a painting at some stage and start another. Then I will finish the first one sometime during the next week once any mistakes or adjustments become apparent.
