Here's the best list of Australian art competitions I've found so far. I have registered for email updates so when a comp is listed I get an email telling me and of course I go look.

This has probably been posted here before but hey here it is again if it has. lol 
PS.
In response to a posting in this forum: I really can't see why I'd pay for a book or for online access, when all the information I need is available and updated for free on the net and sites like this forum.  |

Typically the primary reason people pay for these resources is to save time. After polling our subscribers at www.artprizedatabase.com.au, this was the top reason for subscribing. These subscribers are time poor and would rather be told about prizes than hunting themselves. The second top reason was convenience; only having to go to one site to get all the info they required. |

The Art Directory at www.artrilliumhouse.com has a listing of over 1500 art competitions at any time.
The advantage of an online subscription is that all shows are frequently updated, whereas in most free listings shows can be either outdated, little organised, incomplete or in much smaller numbers, but probably most important ARE NOT SEARCHABLE BY STATE, ART FORM, ARTIST TYPE OR DATE.
This is due to the fact that a database of such calibre is very costly.
The Art Directory also offers a listing with over 900 Australian art galleries.
