Hey guys,

as a former Brisbanite I am aware of the art scene in Bris Vegas, but not familiar with the Sunshine Coast or the Southern Queensland. We are looking at relocating next year to either two areas and want to what is available artwise. Looking at Art Galleries; who are they, is their many, how many commercial and how many public? What about ARIs and society's? Arts Organisations?

What is the art scene in general like? Competitive e.g. how many major players are there and who are they i.e. whose names are constantly poping up in the media?

What about jobs? Art Galleries etc. Are they many jobs that become available or are they non existent?

I am looking at studying my Grad Dip Ed at either USQ, or USC

What locations are the art 'hubs'

Any info would be much appreciated.

I know this is a 2010 post but Art hub in Brisbane? It doesn't have one does it?
I mean this is Brisbane - In all this time have you found that elusive art hub?
Bris Vegas is a pretty disappointing place when it comes to art, even a few
astounding artists I've met lately haven't sold a painting in many many months.

One artist I know to survive even has to do art a la chinese-painting factory.
That god awful stuff that only goes with beige walls or beige sofas. Still she
sells them for a few hundred each and can pay the bills.

An art hub in Brissie ... if you have found one pls tell all ...
