I just spent today building anf etching press out of a car jack and some thick melamine,
has anyone else tried this or had any success ?

top panel cracked as soon as I tried it, but that just needs a thick steel plate instead of the melamine ( which Im getting on tuesday )

next few weeks I'll scrounge around for some aluminium and zinc sheets and etch them with copper sulphate and see if this baby works

Im not expecting any great success but it was fun to build

Sounds like the press is a work of art in itself. Smile

yeah, junk art

4 threaded rods, 16 nuts, 3 plates of melamine and a car jack ( and no, no partridges - I can't find the eggs , Im trying desperately though as I'd much rather breed chukar partridge to eat than these fiddly little japanese quail that Ive got )

its not pretty but when Im finished it WILL squash ink laden bits of metal onto scared wet little A4 sheets of expensive paper

This thing aint nothin compared to the kiln Im building - having just been given a baby 1.8kw Ward kiln at the same time as my oven died , I looked at them both and thought "oh .... kiln has 1 x 1.8kw element, oven has 3x 2200w elements, hmmm..."

MUAAAHHHAHAHAHAHHHAHA

going to burn my house down and make loverly etchings of what the steaming rubble looks like, with all the slumped glass, melted brass, oil paint fumes and dead animals . hope the council doesnt mind
