Are you an artist?
Between the ages of 18-35 yrs old?
Have you always wanted to exhibit your art?
Do you want the chance to win $500 Cash and other cool prizes?

Did you answer yes to all these questions?

Then you should enter the “Urban Illustrated” art competition. This competition is for young people run by young people and we want to exhibit your art at our event.

Why we are doing this?
To raise money for other young people who are in need. The best bit, 100% of the profits will be donated to Youth Off The Streets.

Who are they? Youth Off The Streets is a non-profit organisation who support homeless and drug addicted young Australians as they work to turn their lives around. Their goal is that the young people will leave their care drug free, with a high school education, living skills and a job in hand.

Their Mission Statement: “Youth Off The Streets is helping disconnected young people to discover greatness within, by engaging, supporting & providing opportunities to encourage & facilitate positive life choices.”

DISCOVER YOUR GREATNESS WITHIN AND GET INVOLVED IN A WORTHY CAUSE

I'm sure Dug will be upset - no photography!.

However, although the rules are extremely strict, you may wish to check the maximum age in your post.
I n the rules here:
http://www.urbanillustratedsydney.com/terms.html
I believe there is only a minimum age?

Which is kinda funny, as the subject matter seems to be restricted to G rating.

Anyhow, a good cause - good luck! I would take part, but I'm slightly over 35.

Thanks for your reply.

We are aiming the competition at younger artists to give less experienced people a better chance.

The T&Cs will be updated tomorrow!

Hey why don't you have it as an art prize open to all artists but always choose winners that are 18 to 35 years old?
You'd make more money that way, and would be able to help more people.
There's nothing wrong with that is there?

My question (implied) was why limit it to 18, since it is a G-rated show?

I'm 51 and still inexperienced... Crying or Very sad

I wonder whether it's a legal problem: 18+ they don't need parental permission. I agree with you Tango, even though you are a mere teenager Very Happy - it does seem a shame to exclude younger artists from a competition of this type.

Cheers

We would love to include under 18s but as the finals will be held at Aurora Bar we are unable to.

Also events that include 18s require all event staff to under go a police check which we unfortunately don't have time to do (we are a group of event students running this event as our final assesment)

Any artists interested in donating work to include in our charity auction on the night are more than welcome to get in touch.

Fair enough - that's a good reason.

We are now also accepting photography entries.

A large number of people were interested in submitting photography so we have widened our rules to help raise more money for the charity and get more people involved.
