Hi Brad I have just checked out the forum rules thread and haven't come across this topic of a Buy, Swap, Sell section and if your website allows this???
If you had this section of course it would be dealings between members and no liability on ArtForum. I would think using the section to sell your own art or art would not be appropriate but for other things like; materials, books etc.
If you don't want to add this section, could any threads be posted in the appropriate thread categories e.g. I have a few books I will like to sell, so post that in the book section.
I understand any reservation in allowing this.
Just a thought. Ebay is a wonderful tool, but very competition to get your item noticed, and I would think some members would be interested in purchasings other's "trash" for their treasure. |

Hi Chrissy - that can easily be done, and I can implement it if Brad so wishes.
But... My only reservation is that currently we have a rule against posts for purely commercial purposes. This gets bit blurry already, as the moderators might decide that a post about an artists courier service, whilst clearly commercial, is kinda useful and relevant, wheras a Chinese company that does cheap copies isn't.
This may get blurrier still in a buy & sell forum. The idea has merit (we have the odd buy & sell post now, so putting them together makes sense), but the guidelines would need to be thought out clearly...
Cheers

Yes Grant, I don't want to see the site or the thread taken over with commerical mainstream stuff that people see online. As I said no artwork/art, then that should be no confusion (hopefully). E.g. No prints of postcards or merchandise etc from artwork.
Stuff to make art for sale or learn from e.g. jewellery making kits, stretcher bars, canvas, educational books, paint etc.
Im sure moderators will be able to tell legit members and legit stuff to be sold that is second-hand or new but not suitable for the seller. If it looks like someone is trying to sell as their business and large quantities of things with many post etc, you can tell it is not the odd thing around the house you want to get rid of.
However if this is going to be too much drama for the mods as they already have enough on their 'canvas' (he he he) then scrape it <Sorry I couldn't resist the puns!!!!>
We could give it a trail go for a few months. And hopefully won't get too much spam, or fraudsters |
