Hi all, I spent last week on holiday with the family and for a couple of days we stayed at Echuca. Over that time I got some pastels done of the river that I'd like to share with you.
Afternoon light, Yarraby
This piece was created the afternoon we arrived. The light was bouncing across the water which was dazzling due to people playing in the river on watercraft.
Murray Mists
I was out on site before dawn watching the river and waiting for this scene. One of my mates had tackled this view the day before so I thought I'd be cheeky and wait for the best light to work in.
Calm dawn, Murray River
Done upon completion of Murray mists. I was watching this scene while working on the other one. The moment the golden light hit the tree tops I was ready.
From the bank of the Murray
This was the final scene I got done. I loved the fact that it was so still and I could take a bit more time capturing everything compared to my beach excursions. I'll possibly do this as a full sheet soon.
And here is a shot of me working on site with my daughter
I absolutely loved working there and can't wait to return and do some more! |

Looking good Leigh!
You really ought to write a book on how to be an artist and travel with kids!!!
It could work for parents travelling... and for artists with kids....small ones!! |

| Lovely pieces, all of them. You've certainly captured the colours of Echuca. I thought you were working on a dark background until I saw the photo of you actually working. |
