Watched bits of the last episode. Interesting insight into the Pre-Raphaelite world. Although it seemed to be more about who was bonking whom and when and why rather than the philosophy of their movement in Art. Wonder how historical it is.

I've been watching the show and think it's good and historically accurate to the actual events though they have obviously had to trim some of the members of the brotherhood for the sake of the storey , and the art of my favourite painter Ford Madox Brown , the model Jane Burden and Rossetti's wombat probably wont get a mention.. I've got a book "" The Pre-Raphaelites'' by Timothy Hilton which fills out most of the story..

I think there is a LOT of fun rather than a serious art documentary.

Sex, nudity and drugs also make for a wider audience appeal.

I am just enjoying it as an art story based romp. With nice eye candy and an interesting storyline.

My favourite Maddox-Brown painting is "The Last of England."

Wikipedia has an article about the series, with an interesting section headed "Historical Accuracy" : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Desperate_Romantics

I was mystified by the Fred Walters character, if he was so significant to the Brotherhood why had I never heard of him and why couldn't I find any reference to him? Mystery solved - he's a composite of three people.

Looks like Jane Burden will make an appearance, Tango. But not, alas, the wombat.

The ending was sad, I guess they had to get close to the truth.

But you have to admit the actress playing the redheaded hooker / model did have a spectacular body !!!! Shocked

When I was watching that bit... you know what bit!!
I was thinking to myself... now I know why Doug watches this!!

My Daughter was in the dining room, on the computer and shouted out asking if I was watching a porno... I hadnt seen this before tonight but got sucked in to it!
It was interesting, I WISH someone would pay me to paint and learn to paint better!
I like how it was shot as well... the characters looked like they had stepped from a painitng, the lighting and colouring were nice!
I also liked the portrayal of the artists being a free , sort of bunch... when did it change and turn into the stuffy lot I am familiar with!!?? No one on here of course! Laughing ...!! Very Happy
