Hi Forum Members
I have a sketch which I think is signed by Ronald Revitt. I have searched the net and found that Ron Revitt illlustrated many books and was a teacher, but I could find no paintings or sketches of his work that are signed.

I am wondering if anyone can help me identify the signature or even provide some information about him as there is very little information out there. I have attached photos of the sketch with the signature and the backing which has "Country Cousins" written on it which may help.

Sandra

Hi Sandra, If you would care to spend $21 you could buy a book illustrated and signed by him at http://www.bookmarkaustralia.com.au/australiana.cat.html listed at {0044888] HILLIER, Fred.

Thank you very much for your advice Tango. I have visited the site you sent to me many times, I have emailed one bookseller and asked them to send me a scan or photo of a signed book they have for sale - I am still waiting. I have sourced the signed copies in the Library in the hope that a friend may be able to go and look at it and I have searched for many hours on the internet.

Unfortunately many people who are invalid (still in good mind) with meagre income and confined to their homes rely heavily on the internet and forums such as this for information. I find the best information is from primary sources – people – people who join forums such as this that have experience and knowledge and who wish to share their knowledge with others.
Kind Regards
Sandra

It seems Ronald Rivett is an uncle of Di Morrissey have you tried to contact her yet ? Also there is another person on the same hunt as you :- John Van Wirdum you could phone him on 0400232880 and see if he has had any luck.. I know you are along way in front of me and have probably done all of the above ....... but the hunt is so much fun anyway Very Happy

Thank you so much.
I did see Di Morrissey mentioned on the internet and thought of trying to contact her her. There was also mention of a niece of a student of RR. My hesitation is due to not knowing if RR is still living as internet has differing stories. Your advice re another hunter is excellent and I will follow up.
Sandra Very Happy

Hi Sandra,
this is my second attempt at posting a reply!!
Yes, that is Ronald Revitt's signature. Ronald Moore Revitt is my father. If you would like to know anything else about your watercolour or his books, let me know.
Hope this clears things up!
and yes, Di Morrissey is his niece (my Cousin)

Hello ValoRevitt
You have no idea how much I appreciate your response and generosity to my post (or perhaps you might). Your fathers wonderful watercolour has obviously had quite a history and I am now part of it's destiny. I must explain how I came upon it though. I asked a friend to find me a frame that was about A3 size as I wanted to do a collage of photos of my children and grandchild. When this was presented to me I had an immediate and tremendously powerful flashback of my younger years living in the country. It is so much like my childhood home!!! The memories went back to many years ago....many years where now I do not have any tangible or physical items which I can touch or look at.

My friend who had purchased this from the local salvation army store was quite perplexed when I asked her to please fetch another frame as I refused to alter this one. I have a treasure which will be with me until destiny alters its path again. I am happy and truly thank the wonderful artist - Ronald Moore Revitt - who probably never dreamed that a piece of work he created in 1984 would have such an impact on someone 26 years later in 2010.
