i have been maddly looking for an oil painting for months.
i can not remember its name, but i can remember there was a young lady walking on a country road. she was wholely in black except her white collarband and cuff which were both made with lace. with a horsewhip in her left/right hand, she looked so quite and elegant.
whoever knows the name of the painting or has a digital copy of it please contact me through fdxutao@yahoo.com.cn.

I think it was titled "Flogging a Dead Horse" |

it was a very classic painting with only a girl on a road and far mountains. |

no,still. as i emphasized, she was walking on a country road. and the details were not abstract but refined.

I tried doing a Google search for "Lady Road Horse whip painting" and got this...
Go figure. I can understand why you're having trouble tracking it down..

It would help us if you told us where you first saw it.
Was it an Australian painting?
What makes you think it was an oil painting?
What year do you think it was painted in?
The information that you have given us is at best pretty vague.

sure.
i saw it for the first time in a middle page of a magazine in the 1990s. it was a Chinese magzine named <<Duzhe>> whick i can not find now.
it was easy to know that it was an oil painting, as was introduced. it was drawn by some western artist, probably a French. it was drawn in 18th, i guess.
in the introduction, there was this delineation: the strong contrasting between her black dress and the white lace in the cuff and collar makes the girl so elegant and lively.

Well it sounds like a fun thing to look for.
A Painting that you saw in a book that you can't find anymore drawn by a french in the 18th.
