Hi All
I just found this site by accident when I was searching for some info on Polyester canvas..
I'm a kiwi living in Brisbane, having just spent the last 4 years in Melbourne. I am a portrait artist by night and an engineer by day.
I paint in oil, pastel, watercolour and charcoal.
I've attached a couple of recent oil paintings of mine.
The first is Imogen, grand daughter of an artist friend of mine in NZ. Susan Harrison-Tustain. I was a guest artist on Susan's Forum (susanart.com) and I painted this as an online tutoring session.
The second is a Rembrandt study I did, I wanted to learn about his use of light
Hope you enjoy..
Cheers Bruce

Hi Wendy.. Thank you for the nice welcome.. Gippsland is a nice area, we often travelled over to Sale and Lakes Entrance for a long weekend.

| Impressive Bruce, did you get any art education or are you self taught? I imagine engineering would teach you a fair bit about problem solving. Welcome to the forum BTW. |

Not so sure about the Rembrandt, but the girl is good - very good.
I'm usually asking everyone here if they would like to donate their pieces - most people though (with quite a large number of noted and notable exceptions!) are tight arses.
So, would you like to donate for the good of an art gallery in Adelaide (you know, the backwater thing)? |

Hi Panza
No art education, I've been painting for about 5 years on and off. My wife paid for me to attend a workshop in NZ by Susan Harrison-Tustain (International Watercolour artists) as a birthday present. Susan has guided and critiqued my work since.. I changed to oil last year, having gone from watercolour to pastel to oil..
Thank you for stopping bye
Hi Ocker.. I'm actually attending CHristchurch Uni, doing a Master of Engineering.. bit cold there in the winter. I prefer Queensland
Hi Stefan.. at the moment I'm trying to build up a portfolio and prepare for an exhibition later in the year. How do you mean donate?.. where does the money go to? Also whats the festival all about.
Cheers Bruce |

Bruce, I could spam this thread with links, or you are welcome to follow the links in my signature to learn more about the festival.
As someone put it nicely somewhere else, the money go to line my pockets which have some very big holes, making them, for most of the people, bottomless. |

Nothing worse than holes in your pockets.
I like the rembrant portrait Bruce.
You did a pretty good job of it. |

Thanks Daniel
The yellows and Red Oxides look a little strong, thats from the white balance in my camera.. IRL these dont show up strong at all..

I love almost all of the portraits on your blog - you have certainly mastered portraiture quite well. Not sure if you qualify.
