Why did I leave it so long? I had a glorious day. I've left the wallpaper stripping in the house half done and moved on. This is Day one of the portrait I am doing.
It will be called "Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man" and is 200cmx150cm |

I feel fairly exhilerated! I'd like to leave it very loosely painted - I tend to overdo stuff. Ben paints very freely and it would be strange to do a tight portrait of him.
I lose confidence easily, get overwhelmed by how much I need to do around the house, procrastinate like mad, and play Scrabble a lot!
This is the first time I've painted on a dark ground. |

WOW!!! Not only is that fantastic just the way it is... its HUGE!!!
Well done... you have jumped right back in like a duck to water!!
About the housework and such... it has a tendency to wait for us until we get back to it... inspiration and the right 'groove' are not always so easy to get back into!!

| Thanks everyone, very encouraging. I have problems working small. Large is fine. Of course it looks a lot better condensed into a teensy picture. I am usually OK at the first broad image, it is the next stage I start to lose it. |
