|
|
Some years ago I saw what looked like a really dangerous wood carving blade thing to put on an angle grinder to carve wood.
(A) does anyone know what I am talking about ?
(B) were/are they as dangerous as they looked ?
(C) do they have a name can you get something similar ?
(D) I have some large lumps of red gum that look really nice I would like to make a simple dish from them, but I am also lazy and incompetent
Any suggestions for what to try ?
I have a chainsaw |

This is the pro-4. It's made by Arbortech. There are now several versions you can buy and a couple of copies I think. You should be able to get it at any good tool shop, maybe even Bunnings.

A chainsaw is a brilliant idea Dug. You'd have to change your name to Bob when swimming though (after the stumps healed).
A friend of mine uses an electric chisel - fast, safe(r) than the angle grinder option, a bit pricey and more difficult to source though I hear. |

Hi Dug... I will bring one up for you when I get up that way. My Grandfather bought one for me a few years back....
I have always wanted to try doing that but in reality i am scared of loud noises and cutting off limbs....
I have only just mastered my dremel!! |

Thats okay Dug... Im still coming WhaaaHaaaHaaaaa!!!
Yes there are people out there who must get the rust.... It is sometimes hard to come by.
I have found several recipes for turning all kinds of things rusty...
I have several milk cans still to paint... so i am not too upset!!
I have one lady who has requested the carlton football team logo painted onto the side of a milk can...she is from up your way. I am NOT looking forward to this job... I wonder if I could talk her into Gollywogs??

That looks a lot like a circular chainsaw blade... (and would make a great Ninja Shuriken...)
I remember seeing them at a woodworking show when I used to do turning. I believe the inventor is due for release soon.

You would need an aiming system and a quick release from the angle grinder but they would be a LOT of fun
Is anyone else old enough to remember Shintaro the Samurai on TV in the 60s ? |

Absolutely. I always wanted to be an Iga Ninja and spent most of my early childhood trying to jump backwards into trees. Explains a lot, really.

One of my school friends collected the entire set of Samurai bubble gum cards. If you got all of them you could make the picture of Shintaro on the back of them by putting all the cards together. There were over 100 cards in the set.
I still have a lot of strange friends
I guess if he still has the cards they would be worth a small fortune now to collectors !!!
