This painting was done on an A3 sized canvas, using enamel house paint.
I started painting the background layers and blocking in with colour, than I started the dribbling process (sorta like Pollock), I used sweaps of paint of the fins and using stencil affect with netting for the scales.

Because it was applied so thickly, when it dried it gave this wrinkled effect (which was unintended) but I think it adds to the water's effect.

Well I just gave this to Hubby as a gift because he likes fish -especially Siamese fighters and....though he is a bit of a traditionalist when it comes to art (and life), he said he like the fish. The way I painted it. Wasn't sure about the 'other stuff'. Which if you guys couldn't figure it out, it is the water/reflection in the water.

He said the 'seal-fish' was very cute Rolling Eyes (because the fish face looks like a seal). Oh well!

Great painting.

I spent ages wondering how to prevent the wrinkling of enamel paint I use in the Jackson pollock style, then I saw one of his paintings up close and it was full of the exact same wrinkles I was trying to avoid.

Sometimes you will have a painting that is dying with a perfectly flat surface and you do the smallest add to it and instantly the wrinkles start forming and travel across the entire surface within a minute of two.
