hi there,

im in australia at the minute from the uk and im looking to buy some chevant to do some sculpting- im in sydney and have visited a few art shops that have never heard of it so i was wondering if you have a different name for it over here? its basically oil based, non sulphur clay im after --its usually green or brown and ranges from soft to hard ? icould probably buy it on the internet any local sites would be great?

but i would like to know if there are any shops that you can browse that sell things for sculpters/moulding /special effects stuff (as i like to be nosey and check everythign out) ?

thankyou in advance Very Happy Twisted Evil

You could try the Kerry Lowe gallery at 49-51 King St., Newtown

They sell a range of materials and are close to the city; also a nice place for just having a look, always interesting work on display

I've never heard of chevant either and I'm not too sure from your description but wondering if what you are after is polymer clay.
It is quite smooth and is heat set at lower temperatures either in the oven or with a heat gun, rather than a kiln. Also it is not a wet medium like traditional clay and a bit waxier in feel.
Brandnames I know of are Sculpy and Polyclay.
You can check out Barnes online (they supply prop and set people as well as artists so might have what you are after).
