Hi everyone,
Sarah here letting you know about a brilliant new development in the Gippsland area.
There will be a new gallery opening up on Commercial road very soon
and 15 new emerging artists will be exhibiting at the 'BALANCE' show on the opening night which will be Friday the 14th of August at 6pm.
The show will run for two weeks.
Personally I am moved by this as It is about time there were more opportunities for those who wish to be Artists and still reside in the Gippsland country area.
How lucky I feel. |

Gippsland is huge,
I know there's an existing Gallery in Morwell, which I just googled and it's the Latrobe Regional Gallery. It's on Commercial Rd in Morwell, so you may be very right. |

Yes it is in Morwell
Its a new Gallery. The Latrobe Contemporary Gallery.
It also will be situated on Commercial road.
-- Morwell , not recommended for a lengthy stay but for a viset to the gallery. |

Yes Morwell, I spent a year or three there, not highly recommended... I had heard the gallery was going to happen, interesting to see how it does... Although Morwell has the local regional gallery (partially by fluke in the early days, and a well fought battle saw it expanded in the late 80's and 90's, I think that's right) I am not sure it has the impetus to support a contemporary gallery. Ok a hire space, but to what end? (or to what point...)
If I hire a space it's with the intent the audience will be close by and in good numbers.
May I suggest they take a look at www free business tips.com.au and check out the start up section, perhaps they would be better putting in Traralgon... fewer Bogans there.
Hey it's so new it does not show up in Google!
News Flash if they want to be part of history (in a good way hopefully) then I would gladly profile the gallery in it's start up phase on my art blog and or in artstuff.net.au to they can get some exposure. |

I cant believe you said that! Im sure alot were thinking it though!!
There are even less bogans in Warragul....
There is talk / plans of a gallery being put on the site of the out door pools in warragul... I loved the pools, but we also need a space for art... The art center in warragul is not the ideal place ...even though the name suggests it would be...
Maybe the image of Morwell is in for an overhaul??... |

They may be better off in Traralgon yes. But Morwell it is.
she will be able to get some fair buisness through Churchill uni. I hear some of the Art students complain that the Latrobe Gallery is too out of reach for them financially.
I am unsure of the cost to exhibit there personally.
But as Balance will be my first exhibition it is a good oppertunity for me.
At least it might keep Peter off my back for a bit  |
