If anyone is ever up there, take a walk north along the beach to Belongil creek, at low tide there are AMAZING ripple patterns that form in the sand as the tide receeds. An artist friend who lives in Byron mentioned there is a guy who comes down and takes large plaster casts of these, I think he makes them into slumped glass wall panels. jayglen Joined: 25 Mar 2006 Posts: 280	Posted: Mon May 22, 2006 10:29 pm    Post subject: Re - Byron Bay lived in lismore for 6 years, so i have been many times. but most times i was not walking on the beach. i was at the pub or off doing something else (if i say i think i will be breaking rules or something) but yea the beaches are great there. well what i remember that it. you should go some time. the pub right there on the beach is the best pub i have ever been tto. but ignore the people. 70% of them are up themselves.

Does anyone else like Byron Bay, or dislike? Like, with a capital 'L'! Last place I stayed at was the Arts Factory backpackers (Skinners Shoot Road). Far out funksters!! Nimbin's worth a look too, especially the lot around 1 Alternative Way (!). A long-time brush artist friend of mine lived there in the 1980s. Moved down south in 1991 and carried on their basic, no frills way of life into the wild bush around Bendigo, building their home of mud brick/piesse and coloured bottles. jayglen Joined: 25 Mar 2006 Posts: 280	Posted: Fri May 26, 2006 10:00 pm    Post subject: Re - Byron Bay well the everyday people on the street that you dont know are alright. i was more talking about the people you get to know who live there. just you get to know them and then wish you didnt. its not that bad, guess they love the place and think that no one would as much as themselves. nimbin is cool. i like the people there better. but the shannon (not sure how they spell it) but thats the plac1e to be. then nip over to the bay when you want to go for a swim.

My avatar is actually of Watego's Beach, which is one of my most favourite beaches on the south coast!! I missed summer last year as I was overseas, so I cant wait till summer this year, and was thinking of heading up to Byron for a week or so. _________________ web:www.bretthayesart.com

Clarkes Beach and Main Beach have the most fab view across to Mt Warning and the mountain ranges over the ocean. Watego's Beach is to die for...and the sunsets...yum...we have a friend who has lived there for over 30 years. Up in the hills is nice too, but Bangalow seems pretty up itself though...still THEY do live there. But don't tell anybody...there are already too many people in the Know about Byron

Great entertainment all down the main drag, terrific variety & venues. Great restaurants. Great markets & the piggery cinema is fun. Stayed at Aquarias Backpackers - that was great too. Did I say I LOVE Byron Bay?

I used to hang out there in the 70's it was amazing I went back last year and it had been overtaken by people loving it to death. I can understand it happening but it was sad to see. It was still OK and well worth going there but for me the changes were a bit to much to take.
