I'm going to be in Mildura all next week, with no computers or internet (hooray!!)
I expect you to play nicely while I'm gone, and not throw any wild parties. Brad, Daniel and Jo will be keeping an eye on things, and will tell me if anybody misbehaves..
Cheers
Grant

Tried it for a while, but the fish could see the hooks lying on the river bed and just walked around them. Thought about throwing rocks, but that didn't seem sporting.
Thanks to the other Mods - there doesn't seem to be any spam at all.
Cheers

| There was spam Grant, lots of it, but the mods could see it lying on the forum floor and just hoovered it up. |

the board is fulla rubbish , Russian or some other unreadable stuff
I use three other different forums, and none of them get this continual swamping with these postings

Unfortunately, the automated spam systems (eg XRumor) get around the registration process, including the Captcha code. They target this forum because it has a very high Google ranking, and it's on their list.
It may look like there's more spam when I'm not around, but I suspect that's due to timing: I tend to be online early, and so delete a lot before you get to see it, wheras the other Mods do it in the evenings.
Cheers

I haven't deleted any spam for a while as I haven't been on the forum. Usually I'll delete about three per day, sometimes as many as twenty three by the same spammer. It takes some time because I have to delete each one individually |

| Cheeky boy Ocker, I deleted 3 multiple spammers this week (one at a time) one I was on with at the same time and just followed him down the list and about a dozen individual ones on chit-chat. I did not take extra time with the porn (it was just the girlies!). |

In fact, they do: you have to wait for all the images to load (usually) before the delete buttons are enabled. On a serious note, a lot of the 'porn' isn't... if we get a lot of related postings, I have a look at the target sites to see if there's any point blocking a specific IP address, or range of addresses. In reality, many of the sites do not contain porn at all, but will attempt to install malware onto your PC. (Luckily, my Macs are immune to this stuff.)
The weirdest example was one 'porn' site which turned out to be about trading on the sharemarket....
Cheers

Profuse apologies Jim - hadn't seen you post for a while, so didn't know if you were still around. Your point is well made though - I seem to get a lot of credit for unspamming the place, but members need to be reminded that there are other mods helping as well, they just don't crap on as much as I do...
Cheers
