A call for independent, self-represented artists from across Australia for The Studio at Art Sydney: Sydney’s largest art fair.

Following the resounding inaugural success at Art Melbourne this year, Art Sydney is delighted to announce we are now taking applications for The Studio @ Art Sydney for 2009.

The Studio @ Art Sydney 09 is a feature where artists, not formally represented in Sydney, can exhibit their work in a friendly, yet professional environment with direct exposure to a large art-buying audience.

Artists gain valuable first-hand experience in displaying, marketing and selling their work.

Up to 20 artists will be selected on the basis of excellence and variety to provide visitors with the opportunity to see work unavailable in local galleries. Artists exhibiting sculpture, painting, installations, new media works, photography and drawing are invited to create their own galleries within the feature and engage directly with the general public, while gaining unprecedented opportunities to mingle with gallery owners, curators and the press.

The maximum price of art works will be capped at $5,000 inclusive of GST where applicable.

Each stand is 4 x 2 metres in size, with 8 linear metres of walling.

The stand cost includes:

2.4 metre display white walling of x 8 linear metres
4 lights x 300 watt, long arm spotlights
Fascia name board within the feature area
Artist's details on visitor map
2 x exhibitor badges
Free of charge wrapping service for artists' clients
X 6 complimentary tickets to VIP First Night Preview Party (valued at $300)
X 50 complimentary tickets to other days (valued at $1000)
Electronic designed invitations to send to clients and contacts
Access to 15,000+ Art Melbourne visitors, including regular art-buyers and galleries
Marketing and PR support
Extra storage space off the stand
Access to a centralised till (5% service charge applies)

Applications close 24 July 2009 and will be notified shortly after. If you have also applied for Off The Wall you can stipulate you’d also like to be considered for ‘The Studio’. Artists who are successful for both features may choose which they’d like to participate in.

Couldn't tell us the pricing up front, worried about scaring us off? If someone finds out please post it here so we can compare apples with apples...

Not scared at all. I believe it compares favourably to mounting an exhibition at any gallery plus you have access to 15,000 art buyers. And I get the data capture!

The space was offered for a very good price in Melbourne and was posted on Art Forum at that time. I would highly-recommend Art Sydney to the artist who is serious about exposure and sales.

Probably a silly question,
I know there's an Art Melb, Sydney and Brisbane.

Anyone know if there's and Art Perth or Adelaide.

I'm just assuming since Artbarr went to the Melb one, there's no Art Adelaide... I could be wrong and there's a very big one there...

Sounds like a good opportunity if the price is similar to Melbourne's price.

The price is the same as the Melbourne one and well-worth it.
Adelaide is certainly to small for an Art-Melbourne event - perhaps on a smaller scale but then organisers will not be making enough money from it.

Want to borrow a couple??
They are in fair condition, and come complete with tonsilitis and a cough!
I will even throw in the nappies and the bum wipes!
Sleep deprivision and frustration are also included at no cost!!
And.....
You are free to return them in around 18 years!! ( I will settle for 24 hours at the moment... even 8 just to get a nights sleep !!)

Hi Brett

Lizzy here - we can't have represented artists taking booths as the galleries (who pay much more for their stands) would get their noses out of joint. Are you showing with Nigel at Sydney this year?
