My first attempt & hopefully my last.
this is acrylic, 30 x 40 cm, painted for my daughter in law, who only wanted dolphins, which meant painting sea, I finally bit the bullet after putting it off for as long as possible & got stuck into it.
Many thanks to devilbiss for all the water he has shown on the forum, I think it has rubbed off a bit.
I did think about having the dolphins jumping over the nullabour, but figured she might notice.

| Gee that's pretty good for a first go, especially using acrylics. Good on you. |

lol jumping over the Nullabor, I would have liked to have seen that actually!
Your painting is beautiful! Very serene and the dolphins look great, very 3D. You shouldn't make this your last water painting! I feel the dolphins shadows should be on the water? But then again, I've just woken up lol |

Thanks Jade, I wondered if anyone would say anything about shadows,
I'll just say they where moving too fast & left them behind. lol
It may not be my last water painting, but may be the last sea.
At least I feel a bit more confident now to do some ducks that I have photographed on the river.
I don't see the sea very often, but dirt, I am very familiar with. (paint what you know).
the nullabour !!, I may still do that yet. lol.
Jasmine -- Thank you. |

There is no excuse for bad manners EVER!
I hope it doesnt get you down too much as it is a lovely painting.
It is sad , thanks is such a small word, but so weighty. |

Thanks Wendy, I didn't think just a simple thankyou would have hurt, to have heard her say she actually liked it would have been icing on the cake.
Silly I know, as I had half expected it, but it has got me down.
But the grandkids where told to say thankyou when I gave them their painted rocks. |

I feel disgusted on your behalf also... the salt to the wound (so to speak) is her attempt at teaching your Grandkids manners by saying thanks... Kids learn from seeing positive actions rather than being told to do them, it sinks in better if they see their parents use manners... I think her day is coming when she receives no thanks for something she has devoted so much time , effort and thought into...
Just give your self a big pat on the back because you did do a wonderful painting, and then one for handling the situation so graciously... Many people would have not held their tounges in such a situation!
I tend to be in your situation alot, but just move on and beleive that someplace, sometime everyone gets their own sort of thanks...(or not!)
There is something special about painted rocks... i love them! (gourds also!!) |

Thanks for the morale boost Wendy, I shut myself in my studio & got stuck into a drawing for 2 days, so feeling a lot better now.
of course the dissapointment lingers for a while, but at least the grandkids loved their rocks, & I'll focus on that.
I just keep wondering how many people could be handed a gift worth a few hundred dollers & they just take it with no thanks, as though it's their due. There is some very funny people in the world. |

| Maybe she was busy and had something on her mind? I'm sure she did like it, how could she not? Hopefully she is admiring it in her own time, and remembers later to say thankyou to you. |
