Hi

I have done basic acrylic painting on canvass .I want to know how to create textured effect on it .Came across few paintings where the artists had used paints which were thick enough to create texture on them
e.g Jeans (material) effect or Jute like effect .

1. Can anybody help me & let me know which economical & good brand should i buy ?

2. And how should i create these effects ?Should i mix any medium with it ?

3. Also can anybody tell me which all more effects can be created ?Which tools do i need to create these effects ?

Thanks

Buy some modeling paste and experiment.
Here's an oil painting that I did over a textured base done with modeling paste just brushed on to canvas straight from the container.
The painting was done using a monochromatic underpainting with glazes applied over the top.
When it was dry I sanded the surface lightly with fine sandpaper before varnishing.

The same thing could be done with acrylic.

I would suggest just trying out everything and see what effects you get. You can use anything on gesso and leave your mark, modelling compound is fabulous for stronger effects and you can work your acrylics with anything too, sponges, palette knife, fork and sticks, anything!
Grab yourself a book on acrylic paint effects and go for it Very Happy
