Great painting.
I like the "What the f### are you looking at?" expression on your face. It's as if the viewer isn't supposed to really look at the painting or maybe should feel slightly uncomfortable doing so.
I also like the use of dead game and devoted hunting dogs looking up at their master like those beautiful old paintings by Anthony van Dyck.
But what I think is really clever is the way that you have tied it all together with the fur lining on the hood of your jacket.

Yeah brilliant technique. The composition also adds to the faux Old Masters parody, following a classical triangular form. It looks a bit like a Gainsborough or Boucher, or maybe Joshua Reynolds or Joseph Wright. It's a great send up of that 18th-19th century idealised domesticated naturism and portrayal of the master of the house with his adoring hounds.
I wonder, however, how the powers that be will see it? Whether they hang it will depend on whether they perceive it as engaging, innovative and quirky or contrived and gimmicky. |

excellent work with this, not just the quality of the painting, but all the little subtleties you have brought into it... and going by last years exhibition, which I saw for the first time ever...its up there... all the best

Thanks all for your very kind words. Devilbiss You are the first to pick up the reference to the fur,you know your stuff. Pook the work has reference to Gainsboroughs work so you are spot on. Stefan Maguran thanks for your honest view.I just hope i can live up to your high subject and composition standards you have set in your work the next time i do a painting  |

I sincerely hope you keep with your standards. The fact that I hate this work to me indicates that you have done a great job. It is generally very hard to create work that causes such a strong reaction.

| Looks very skillfully done, I wonder (and always do,) if it could be better what would you do to make it better... or now that it's complete s there anything you would change, e.g. the animals does each one have a symbolic meaning.. and apart from you and the skate board is there any other "modern world" reference... or should there be... |

Deciding to post my first ever comment here after looking around for a while.
This work is not only brilliant but makes me want to take up game hunting and skateboarding. That's quite a respone to provoke from a vegan who suffers from menieres. Love the irony and kudos for stepping outside of the box. |
