Hi everyone.

I've just got my hands on an old press and a few stones. I'm just trying to rejuvenate the press at the moment. I studied litho about ten years ago at uni but i'm a bit rusty.

Does anyone have good suggestions for books or links with detailed descriptions of processes and suppliers for materials- acids etc. around sydney area or the blue mountains?

Anything other advice that pops into your head if you're an expert printmaker would be welcome too.

Thanks in advance
Steve

The Tamarind book is the bible. (it was fairly old when I was at Uni 30 yrs back...)

most of the process revolves around oil and water repelling, correct graining of the stone to begin with and a two step processing with gum to make the stone receptive, I think acid was involved too.

I remember a lot of it, and could probably get an image to happen with a bit of practice.

I just had a look u above me on my book shelf and guess what, I found my old printmaking journal from 30 YEARS back!!! Shocked full of the basics, so if you want some notes on "Litho 101" give me a hoy... Very Happy

NOTE: not one day latter my old Print lecturer sends me an email! How freaky is that... she is a master of the medium BTW.

I have a book called "The encyclopedia of Printmaking Techniques: a comprehensive visual guide to traditional and contemporary techniques" by Judy Martin, 2006, published by New Burlington Press http://www.allbookstores.com/book/9780806993003/Judy_Martin/Encyclopedia_Of_Printmaking_Techniques.html there are ones with other covers but this is my exact one.

It is really good for all the basic printmaking techniques and has a few pages on lithography.

There are other ones I have loaned from the library but cant remember what they were called
