Hello again,
I have not joined this forum for a time; it has been nearly 5 months since the day I came Brisbane. And I also nearly finish my work and will come back my home soon. Today I am so happy as my friend sending me her works recently, I were impressed with her works in Sa Pa. It is winter in Brisbane but it is very hot in Hanoi now, the temperature is about 35-40 during the day. My friend and her father is working in Sa Pa, the high land area in West North of Vietnam, where the temperature is much cooler than Hanoi. There are three of them in Sa Pa, my girl friend, Dang Thanh Hoa, her father Dang Tin Tuong and Tran Luu Hau, the very old artist and may be the oldest artist who is still working very much now, his is 81 year old. My friend email me and wrote a lot of her thinking and her feeling and she is very happy as working in the first trip of this year. She also said that they met To Ngoc Thanh (To Ngoc Van's son) who is working in Sa Pa now. They are all happy artists.
I post some of her works here just for sharing my happy with every one, I really pride on her.

Hi Odonata,
That's quite a lot of work that Dang Thanh Hoa has done, really hot climate colours in a lush environment,- looks good as an exhibition. What medium does the older artist work in - does he use acrylics too? Thanks for sharing them with us - it's good to see what our friends overseas are painting. Pass on our good wishes for success.
Cheers, Annee |

Welcome Odonata,
Vietnam has a special place in my heart. I lived in Hanoi for 2 and a half months and had a wonderful time studying lacquer painting at the University of Fine Arts. I loved Sa Pa as well. My husband and I spent another 2 months travelling down to Ho Chi Minh city.
I love the freshness of these paintings. |

Thanks for your information, I hope that you will came back to Hanoi one day.
Mr. Dang Tin Tuong is very well known about his work on lacquer in the past, but now his eyes is very bad and he is also geting old so he stopped work on lacquer for along time. |

I am not sure about Mr. To Ngoc Thanh but Mr. Tran Luu Hau is using acrylic now, and Mr. Dang Tin Tuong work on both acrylic on canvas and water colour on a kind of tranditional paper.
Thanks |
