Ok so that's a lame title but an apt one.

On the Regionalis site I have put up an idea I want to explore about bringing more Regional Contemporary Visual Artists to Metro settings... Initially in Melbourne Vic.

http://www.regionalis.com.au/?p=266

Feel free to add in ideas etc here as well.

Of main interest is finding access to grants and funding ideas/opportunities directly related to the idea to make this a reality. (I don't want to waste heaps of hours searching thorough funding options to find the right ones...) and yes I am willing to set up a not for profit group to get funding if that's the only way to get it.

Cheers!

Steve, make an appointment to meet with someone at AbaF (Australian Business Arts Foundation). Just ring them up and tell them what you are planning to do and I am sre you will find them very helpful.

Also call the project officer at Arts Victoria who looks after the regional grants and ask for a meeting to discuss your plans.

Both of these meetings should help you move your plans forward.

Good luck.

Can I be considered regional if I live in the backwater of Australia? I would be happy to help, should you consider it.

I am able to coordinate and chase the funding - I need someone with better English and perhaps more experience in writing submissions to write the blurb.

Sounds great! Is Newcastle considered regional Australia? Feels like it.

Yep have chatted to her, she sent me an email with ideas, you realise she was involved in the last one... Oh yeah of course!...

She like many people on here are a font of knowledge.

I have had one email back already from a funding body giving me some directions and headings/titles on sites to look up. all good thus far!

I have finished off a power point presentation to use as a presentation tool for people and organisations interested in what it's all about... http://www.regionalis.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2009/09/regionalis-2010.pps (right click on it and choose download this file - then open it and press enter to go through it.) feedback on the presentation would be great! Smile

Not sure if it will help, or if it's applicable to what your doing...
(I think I have put answers to both your posts here...)

General Grant info

Community Use of Town Hall Hire Scheme

Council venues for hire

Art House:

Not sure if there's a list somewhere, but there's a few buildings that occasionally have exhibition in there foyers.
I have seen them in the Telstra building, 101 Collins I think, ummm... Rialto... Town hall does it occasionally... Myer used to have them in there top floor (is it called the great hall) but that's being renovated...
Federation square, they always have interesting things going on there... but that's outdoors..

I think I'm getting carried away now...

hehe

Thanks! Will look into these too. (most council grants are for people in their council boundaries but I will look!)

Melbourne City Council are bound to have grant/venue assistance if your intention is to draw regional artists into Melbourne city. I am pretty sure that unlike most council grants you don't have to live in the area - just presenting in the area for that community (ie exposing them to the diversity of artistic practise in Regional Vic/Aus).

In fact you should probably start with them.....
