Nicely done, Jodi - I particularly like the tree roots one.

A couple of suggestions:

Watch the lighting: to make the new object 'live' in the scene, it needs to be lit in roughly the same way as everything else. It will cast shadows on other objects, and may have shadows cast on it. (try the Dodge and Burn tools). This might sound anal, but in fact having the shadows consistent is a great way to sell the shot - it's like the brain goes "woa, that shadow is clearly in the background AND it goes across the fairy, so it MUST be real..."

Watch the quality: the new object needs to match the quality of the scene - if it's razor sharp in a soft shot it will stand out. (ditto for grain / noise). Try the Blur tool, or Gaussian blur for large areas.

Cheers

Grant

What Dug and Grant said.

I love the second one - the Nyad or Dryad or whatever it is.

In the first one you needed to play around with the feathering and sharpness a bit - the figures are too stark and need to be anti-aliased better with the background. And like Dug I can't stand the show, so am biased against the subject to begin with. Smile

Aaahhh yes, completely agree with all of the above - and don't panic I'm not a fan of dancing with the stars either.
My stupid day job & slave driving boss has been getting in the way lately and my mountain of creative ideas is getting out of hand so I've been escaping reality for an hour or so once the kids are tucked up in bed. Sooooo... I'm thinking if I get them to a reasonable stage now I can come back when I have more time and work on the ones that I still like.

I'd like to make a tree using people to form the trunk and branches but might have bride a few of my fit looking friends to pose semi naked - Shocked

I've added a little bit more detail to this one and softener her up up tad but I'm struggling with the shadow because in my eyes the directions of light is almost front on so the shadow will fall straight behind right / slightly to the left? Confused I have darkened the back of her dress a smidge too. I've also adjusted her wings but still not sure if they look like they're on the right angle.
