Gmail blocked because of spammers

I have blocked Gmail and googlemail.com email accounts because we are getting a massive increase in spammer registrations, and no legitimate users from this domain.

Random question: has the amount of spam dropped?

I've tried a couple of things 'upstream'. I'm not seeing as much, but it's possible the other mods are getting to it first.

I haven't been on the forum as much but I sent a whole forum load to Chit Chat for spammers only a week or so ago..and of course had a bit of fun editing a couple that have found a home in removed posts.
I completly removed some porn spam...usually from Russia...you can tell that they're from Russia because they're wearing fur hats.

Turned the GMail block off for 24hours in response to a very determined legitimate user who wanted to join. Since then, we've had 6 spammers posting 21 messages, so it's back on.

Brad has had a number of requests from legitimate Gmail users, so the ban is OFF.

Spam went up dramatically, so it's back on, again
