Marri - "On criticism" Ive been asked to make my paintings "look less like things and more like stuff and paint" when some snobby retard thought she would ask a photorealist to paint her an abstract
you shoulda replied to the Cafe owner "My current body of work merely reflects the intestinal interactions between the culinary delights provided by your venue's chef de cuisines and said personages delicate gastrointestinal persuasions, the pieces only imply the end result of various unnafillatied members of the populace consuming said delights and displaying henceforth for all to see the wonderful colour range available to the chef should he decide to use his techniques and skill to produce a work based entirley on his clients rejections of certain tastes and textures , to mix together upon such a substrate as my humble canvas. if such a thing were to happen it would alleviate my need to imply such greatness with my own painting and allow me to sit back and view the brilliance of such "oro rejecta" in creating a work truly representative of your fine venue's consideration of the uplifting of the bourgeious to utter detriment of the bla bla bla then punch him in the face |

Wow what a lot of mixed comments!
Marri, "it gets done too often"? I haven't seen this type of thing before. Has anyone else?
Boris - Thank you very much for your comments. Its not finished just yet, there still are a few things that need a lot of work. There are too many straight lines in the front of the painting. And I still havent measured it yet.
Heartco - Thank you, its not finished yet. More detail for sure.
Thanks everyone else for your comments, either way like or dislike, its still good feedback for me. |

"why is it that when I do a big pointless ranty speel, it always starts a new page and thats the first thing random passers-by will read if they stumble across this thread ?!" - one of the universes mysteries. I actually thought the "spew" comment was quite amusing. To her credit she displayed it regardless.
Apologies to CB for hijacking the thread. |

Why am I always late to the party!?
Anyway - first of all about monochrome. It means one colour (der!) plus black and white.
As to your painting - the title is good.
Impossible to constructively assist with perspective as the photo is not straight on. So for example the eyeball as something of a flatness about it but may actually be great straight on.
I find lying the work on the floor and holding the camera over it works really well or at least I get a great shot of my toes. |

| I usually lay mine on the floor in between chairs so that I can rest forearms on the chair backs, the camera is then steady and in perfect position |
