Hi everyone. I started this yesterday as someone asked me to paint something with whales in it. I can see my whale is out of shape and im not happy with the bend in her tail, I think i might extend her tail up the painting? Not sure. Overall the whale is out of shape, but not bad for a start i guess. Im thinking i might put some divers in this? No its not a monochrome - there will be colour.

It looks good, but I find the position of the whale to be too near to the edge and maybe too small.
I think that's why you are playing with the idea of putting something else like divers in there.
At the moment the scene is mostly about the water which is a large expanse of blue.
I like whales, especially these humpback whales...I think the whale should be a lot bigger and one third along the vertical line.

Thanks Devilbliss, i agree with you. However now that ive gone ahead with it i will keep that in mind for my next whale painting, I plan on doing a few of them. I was given some canvas by my mother who was moving and didnt have space for them, and they are cheapies, so good for practicing on. But not sizes I normally use. I have three of them around about the same size so i will try to get it right before putting it onto better canvas. Thanks for taking the time to comment.
