September Drawing Workshop
Well after a really successful drawing workshop in June I have decided to hold another one in September, and I’d love to have you in the class! If you would like to see the last workshop in action please visit the blog http://erikagoftonartclasses.wordpress.com/

It is a full day workshop aimed at all levels from complete beginners through to the more experienced. The primary focus of this workshop will be on developing good observational drawing practice. By exploring the fundamental elements of drawing, students will learn to interpret and represent what they observe in front of them, and to build confidence in their ability. This drawing workshop is intended to challenge a student’s understanding and interpretation of what they see and how they represent that.

Using a variety of subjects from direct observation, including the human figure, students will explore three-dimensional form and space, shape, proportion, and the relationships of various objects to each other. Students will work with a series of interesting spatial contexts and learn to be critical and solve drawing problems as they occur. Students will use drawing as a medium in its own right, not simply in a supporting role to Painting. If you have already undertaken the Foundation Drawing and Painting class this workshop is a great chance to expand on what you have already learnt.

For those that don’t know me I am a full time exhibiting artist based in Newport. I have a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree and a Diploma of Education in Visual Arts. I am currently represented by Dickerson Gallery in Sydney, and Anthea Polson Gallery in Queensland. I have been selected in numerous prizes including, The Mosman Art Prize, Redlands Art Prize, Albury Art Prize, Sunshine Coast Art Prize, R & M McGivern Prize, EMSLA and 6 times selected in the Williamstown prize.
