Hi guys

I have one week left of my 2D Media printmaking class and have been told I need to experiment more with my lino prints (just in printing them she doesnt want me to cut anymore)

I have:
-done clean prints of all
-printed on diff paper (water colour paper, wall paper etc)
-printed a black print, turned the lino and printed a white opaque print on top
-had graduated colours on the print (ie used a blue and yellow ink)
-chin colle (adding small parts of colour to it using crape paper during printing process)
-water coloured into print
-done an imprint (using water colour paper - no ink)
-reductive prints

What else can I do!!! Any weird and wonderful ideas?? I am on the verge of a perfect mark!

You could experiment using caustic soda to create tones. This is dangerous so mask and gloves please. If you are lucky enough to find a tin of the old caustic soda oven cleaner that is great but I think they've stopped making it. Make walls with hot wax and put caustic soda mixed with water into the well. Read instructions for mixing on container - this is very important
You will need to do some experimenting to see how long it takes for each tone. I did tone charts using caustic soda and Citristrip paint stripper. The paint stripper was easier and pleasanter to use but the caustic soda gave a more consistent result. Whatever you use it is not an exact science. Could be worth looking up on the web. I saw some beautiful landscapes and was pleased with my pigs LOL

There is no way they will let me do that at uni Razz (OHS gone mad) haha which is a shame because it looks good. I will try it one day as I want to get my own printing gear but atm only have access to stuff at uni :/

What about making monoprints with them by painting the lino tile (oil paints) and then printing onto paper (dampen in the usual way)?

Wow hard teacher. You have done alot already. So if it is different printing surfaces, then I have done some on rice paper and tissue paper. Be aware you don't need to use the press has you can manually hand press as not alot of pressure is needed. I did an experiement just for fun of one part of my reduction block onto acetate as a 'stained glass window' effect type thing. Worked a treat.
