Hi all - I'm part of a group discussing starting a new Rotary Art Show in the Melbourne Bayside area This is at a VERY early stage, so chances re good that it won't proceed, but...

I would be interested in everybody's thoughts on what they would like to see in the 'perfect' Rotary Art Show. Bear in mind that the ultimate purpose is a fund-raiser for charity.

Cheers

I think how you guys run the Chelsea one is darn good, there are so many shows out there that have no respect for the artist and just want to turn a buck, so continuing along those lines would be good. The Brighton Porsche blah blah one for example, well, just do opposite to it! lol

I think how the, Mt Waverly one I think? has a viewing area. It's hard sometimes to picture how a painting would look at home when there are so many around it, so if you can have a viewing area where someone can take the painting to it and let you look at it on a small blank wall, I think that would be great, but also might cause more problems for organisers Very Happy

1. The show should be open to all styles of art.
2. The judge should have the knowledge/experience of all styles of art.
3. The main prize should be open to all types of media.
4. There should be a prize for oil/acrylic, watercolour and pastel, which all have the same prize money.
5. Highly commended awards should come with a small amount of prize money , so they at least get their entry fee back.
6. There should be a prize for drawing to encourage that basic skill, or at least a prize for other media.
7. Unframed gallery wrap canvases should be allowed.
8. At least one painting up to 1.4 metres square should be allowed to be entered otherwise I wont be able to enter any work.
9. All proceeds from the show to be forwarded to the Tango retirement fund.
