I enjoy reading blogs about art, particularly those that reflect on process, inspiration, the drive to create, links between art and life, art as a vehicle for communication, controversies in the art world, technique, art history, current shows - anything art related really Smile

I also enjoy blogging and restrict it to weekly so it doesn't become a chore Smile I try to stick to writing about my art, or someone else's occasionally and I never reveal what colour sox I am wearing Wink It's an enjoyable way to network with others in relation to art and can be particularly gratifying to receive comments from people over the other side of the world Smile

and I can't stand Big Brother Rolling Eyes

Wow! Red socks you say! do you have a link to that??
Wink

reading random blogs can be interesting,

i have a strange fascination with mundane things, so yeah, I watch big Brother. ALthough last year was bad enough to put anyone off, I've been enjoying the current season. It's a Warholian vision of the future come to life. It's a shame he wasn't around to see it.

I came across a blog by accident the other day that has changed my mind about blogging. I thought this was so wonderful & was so taken with it that it might have been written just for me. I also noticed that it finished in 2004 & as the man looked quite elderly I felt a bit upset that mabye he had died & this was his swan song. Then I thought, if thats the case what a lovely thing to have left for people to stumble upon. Even if that was the only thing you left behind thats quite something - a record of all the best of what you took in & found beautiful & the things that touched your soul. Your 'thankyou' moments all floating around in cyberspace. So perhaps I will do a blog & if I decide to, this is the sort of blog I'd like to do. Not that I'm planning on dying any time soon!

And then last night I realised Embarassed I'd just picked up part of his archive & he's not dead after all - much more cheerfull now Very Happy But I liked this bit best.

I love blogging, and hate it, i love my rss feeds, and I resent them- it takes so much time out of my day every day!

but my blog is my #1 marketing tool, it has been monumental for me personally. I write about my art and news (news news - not sox Razz) and I write about nude art news and issues - these are the things that really drive traffic to my site - having a niche and a focus really has helped create awareness of issues and of my work as well.. tying it in so to speak. I have been taking a break recently, it all became too much but it will be starting back again at it's usual pace soon. I hate hearing what people have for lunch though, if I don't have anything interesting to say I don't bother posting.

as for my must read blogs - I love Alyson Stanfield's, Paul Dorrel's, Edward Winkelman's, Hazel Dooney's and Empty Easel. I can't go past theirs but I have hundreds more that I just scan these days.

I have spent some time over the past couple of weeks looking for a good blog or forum to date this is the best some of the others are so well established that there is no way in.In other words they are like little clubs.Because I have only recently started painting again I am finding I spend more time for something local than paint,ah the newness of the web.I found one in Perth but the blogs are quite old looks promising. Dear old Perth as usual is mostly establishment and I for one do not have the confidence to go there.I am interested in chinese brush work and I thought there might be a group but no so i'll stick with the books and teach myself and show nothing because books are always some elses inspiration.Hopefully getting a digital camera for xmas dropped enough hints then i'll get some inspiration of my own well vented my spleen so to speak after this can't be bothered having my painting interupted for nothing.Saying sorry for this now so as I don't have to later don't want to fall out with anyone

I've never been able to keep a diary of any sort, even while travelling. I have a feeling though it would make sense to have a blog of our big trip coming up. We are not taking a computer so will be dependent on cafes which has never been a problem before. I'm a bit defeated before I start because I know my history. My husband on the other hand is a great writer, Facebook contributor and communicator. It's easy to leave it to him.

But why unveil your persona to the scrutiny or possible bias of the public ?? is what stumps me. I personally wouldn't want to give out a large quantity of personal day-to-day information to random people.

I think this is perhaps part of the reason why I do it.. aside from just needing to vent now and then everyday real life is filled with "rules" that impose expectations to repress. I try be myself but I stop short and just end up awkward normal so blogging and expressing myself on the net has helped to combat shyness. I also use it to write poetry occasionally, when life goes bad and for politics (esp about the art world). At first it was daunting showing aspects of myself to strangers but it's set to friends only so I have an idea of what type of people read it.

I have a blog I think that's what I should call it.... but i wanted more than a personal journey to be thrown against the wall so I use a blog web 2 interface to hand information to the world. I don't like some blogs the ones that drivel on about nothing, the ones that have a few entries and die, the ones where the person has nothing to say and amps it up with more drivel...

I want info and want it fast, so I avoid ones that are self serving. I checked out rss feeds for many that I have looked and at subscribed left right and entre then unsubscribed the same way after a while I had no time to do things and soon created a rift between me and the wife, she does not want to be a computer widow...

I have to carefully juggle my time now Smile

I love the concept but I now figure devices like twitter have taken over the quick look at me grab at life, so maybe my style of blog is the way to go for a more in depth look at how things are going.

Well I have succumb to the world of bloging now. Yes some may call me a walking contradiction, I call it growth and knowledge. It has been many years, a TAFE and a uni degree later, and much learning about marketing (yes I am defending myself).

So here is my blog! All things related to arts and crafts that I do (and may find on the net to be of interest -don't know yet -but mainly my stuff) will be posted on here http://artycraftystudio.blogspot.com/ my blog. So eventually I want to add tutorials, demos of my work and my other stuff which I do but are not paintings so doesn't get seen through my website or other meens.

If you have gmail or a blogspot blog "follow" me.
