Hi all - just a reminder that the Chelsea Art Show is on this weekend (12-14 june).
There are more entries than ever (875) with some exceptional work including:
Best in Show - Rosemary Toddman-Parrant
Best Oil/Acrylic - Craig Penny
Best Drawing - Geoff Sargeant
and to my mind, the stand-out exhibit of the whole show:
Best Junior Art (School Years 9-12) - Thomas Gittus.
Opening hours and further details are on the website: www.chelseaartshow.com.au
Cheers

| Hey Grant, do you have anything to do with the organizing of this show? |

I'm on the Committee* - my role is to do the advertising, posters, catalogue, website, photography or anything that needs graphics. I'm also there representing artists... which is a bit rich as I don't know the first thing about the art world. Luckily, Rosemary Toddman-Parrant is also on the committee and she, as well as being extremely talented, does know a bit about art in general.
If you have a comment/complaint, you can send it through me. Or, for that matter, just send it to info@chelseaartshow.com.au
They do take feedback seriously - there is very little of it and what there is tends to be trivial "I don't like where my painting was hung..." sort of stuff. After every show, we'll have a meeting to discuss what worked, what didn't, and what we'll try next time. For example, this year we're trialling staggered pick-up times. Personally, I think it will add to the confusion, but I'm happy to be proved wrong, again.
Cheers
Grant
* a few years ago I used to worry about a potential conflict of interest. I don't any more, because the judges don't know I have any involvement with the show until after they've decided. (If then...) And the standard has gone up so I'm not really in the running anyway. |

And congratulations to Heidi (Heartco) for taking out the People's Choice Award, and selling the piece.

| Thanks Grant! Not to mention a Highly Commended as well, absolutely blown away I am :) No complaints as such, I got feedback commenting on the high standard of the show, but also how crowded it was, perhaps too many entries. I do take my hat off to all who organize and run these shows, it can not be an easy task. Was great to meet you too! |
