This is the second in the series of the 2010 Margaret River Drug Aware Pro. This is Yadin Nichol, a young local Margaret River Surfer. He is a powerful and innovative surfer, and beat some of the best in the world, finally coming up against a rampaging Taj Burrow in a semi-final. Taj combo'ed Yadin early on in the semi with superior wave selection, and a series of blistering manoeuvres on those waves. Yadin could see the only way to progress to the final was to pull out all the stops, and go for high risk, but high scoring moves. This is one of those moves, a sensational tail free top turn, totally airborne.

Oil on canvas, 55cm x 165cm or 22" x 66"

Thanks, Jodi. There's at least one more, with a new canvas sitting on my easel and the sketch complete. I love doing surf paintings, it's my favourite subject. If there was a big enough market I would paint surf all the time!

Hi, Ocker, thanks heaps!

Looking forward to seeing the next one. Ever considered holding an exhibition around the same time of a big surf comp?

I think I may have one of the cutest up-coming surfers ever!!!

The biggest comp in WA is the Drug Aware Pro. The trouble with exhibiting at the same time is that I work at the comp every year as the Sign-age and Sponsor Manager, and I'm flat out every day, for eight to ten hours, so I just don't have the time to do an exhibition as well.
