Here is my latest work. I am considering starting this over, but not sure if I am just over reacting or if it is really not coming together right
Any thoughts would be nice |

I think that's looking great. It's possible the LHS duck may need a bit more shading to give it some more form - I'd need to see the original to judge.
It must be duck season... I've just finished (meaning I don't know what to do next) a watercolour of a bunch of ducks - doesn't look half as good as this.
Cheers

Are you kidding!!! yep most definate over-reaction, they look great!!!
I agree with grant that the LHS duck may need more shading or more contrast. |

I used to feel like this a lot and have a lot of half finished stuff from years ago.
Then an artist whose opinion I value told me, "Finish the damn thing and then decide if its any good."
Good advice. |

Thanks guys
It is the left hand duck that is annoying me, I have reworked his chect about a trillion times so I can't do anything more with it, maybe darken up a few places abit but that is it =/
I will see if I can play with the tone a bit more to give him some more shape, I think you are right there.
Clive of course you are right I should finish at least the brown duck and see how I feel about it. I think part of the problem is that the right hand duck is comming up really well, but the Left duck is a bit dull. But then in reality I think that is the case in real life as well and maybe I am trying to get something that is not there in the first place.
I really wish I could put these guys aside for a week or so, so I could look at it with fresh eyes but I can't it is a comission and it has to be done.
I will keep pluggin away at it and see what i come up with =] |

A rough idea of what it would look like with more shadow. I'm not entirely sure where the light is coming from.

| I can't see any problem - other than the head is too big and you will never fit the body on the paper (sorry - been hanging around kids too long). Seriously, you might be able to see something in full size that is not apparent on screen - but it is looking good. |
