It being winter, a young man's thoughts turn to... waterfowl.
As I said in Altheau'a thread, it must be National Duck Week.

Like Altheau, I'm not happy with it either.
660 x 465mm on 300gsm Arches Medium.

Cheers

If you are displeased pour some resin over it.

I think it is because Ducks are evil ;p

I think it is lovely, great water and I really love the baby duck feathers. They look so soft and fluffy.

Is there something you aren't happy with?

I think the only thing that stands out to me is that 3 of the baby ducks have slightly bigger eyes, so my fav baby duck is the second one as his eye is a bit softer. I don't think it ruins the picture though, just makes it different.

It is defiantly something I would be happy with if I created it =]

I think the ducklets look like they're made of straw and about to rob a bank. Or they're on their way to a Marilyn Manson gig.

I suspect it's the same problem you have - when you stare at something from close up (through magnifying glasses in my case) you lose any sense of the big picture. I need to not look at it for a while.

Seriously, I'm thrilled you like it - you should be very proud of yours - they're working well, too. Make sure you finish them, then let others judge if it has any merit.

________

A couple of years ago, I won a prize at a local art show. Some time after the fuss died down, the judge casually asked if I was happy with it. I thought for a minute then admitted that, no, I wasn't really. She said "Good. That means you're still improving".
... Thank you, Helen. I remember that every time I think I've crashed and burned. Again.

Cheers

The distracting thing about the composition is that the baby ducks are all the same distance apart and in a straight line. Some sort of formation duckling team?

Ha Ha Grant that is funny, I never thought about them as robbers ;p

I am actually getting a bit frustrated because I feel that way about almost everything I have drawn lately, which is really annoying because I am having a hard time working out what really needs to be fixed and what is just me being a bit silly.
