Hello Brad,
I have just released a "bronze casting Manual" teaching people how to cast a small bronze sculpture by themselves...
Although it is not specifically targetted at Australian students, the booklets does list many Australian resources (Foundries, foundry suppliers, Bronze casting workshops etc...)
Perhaps a candidate for inclusion to Art Education
How can I use Artforum to best inform your members of thsi resources?
This is a commercial venture (I sell my book.) The website: www.bodyscape.net.nz
Cheers,
Olivier

If this website is to be educational, informative and responsible then we should expose not just budding artists, but all artists to the many harmful ingrediants used in the manufacture of artists paints as well as solvents.
Being the national distributor of a particular artists medium, and who is talking directly with artists all over Australia/NZ daily, we find it alarming how many people do actually suffer from allergies/asthma created by nearly every type of artist medium that can be purchased from Art Supply Stores, including cheap water colour paints now imported from China. Some of the ailments are minor, some have resulted in operations and many artists now wish they had of known or been advised about certain harmful ingrediants used in artists mediums which now has affected their long term health. Of course many artists are in total denial that there is a problem.
I have taken the issue up with the editor of a well known Artist magazine published here in Australia but they declined as of the possibility of losing advertising revenue from publishing such information.
To some people i know this will look like sour grapes or something similar but i do honestly think that this information needs to be published.
Look forward to your thoughts and comments Brad.

I agree with your post Robyn. This are just some of the post that everyone needs on reading rather than information's that duplicates other postings. |
