Hi, did you ever wind up working with ICO Gallery? I just received an e-mail to join them as well. I was just trying to send out some feelers first. Thanks

Hi, I just joined this forum to post a reply to your question.

Actually, I am not an artist. I am a research scientist working in industry. But my wife is an artist and she got the same email from Ico gallery yesterday. We googled and found some info. It seems that the gallery is a vanity gallery. See the attached links:

Is there any way to get around the bait like that email and store up artist's career in NYC? Although I am not an artist, I would like to help my wife to make success in her artist's career. Moreover, I want my wife to build network with many other good artists who are working (or want to work) in NYC. (We are from Korea four years ago and living in Rochester, NY).

Hi, Thanks for the reply, I really appreciate it. BTW, I am actually with a cooperative gallery called Phoenix Gallery on 11th ave. between 24th & 25th. Street. They charge me a yearly fee, but it's a way of getting my work out there. If you want more info for your wife go to http://www.phoenix-gallery.com/
and I'm Busser Howell if you'd like to see my work. (right column of artists tab). Good luck and thanks again! Smile

Mc1242,

We have an interesting topic on our blog concerning the costs of exhibiting at Co-Op Galleries. Please check it out, I think you will find it very informative as it provides all the information associated with costs in NYC to exhibit. The information can be found here at http://icogallery.wordpress.com/2010/03/06/the-numbers-behind-co-op-galleries/.
